Dear Parents and Students,
We have several performance opportunities in the next two weeks as we ramp up to UIL. All of these performances are open to the public and are free to attend. The orchestras have put in a tremendous amount of work since the semester began and we would love to see you in the audience cheering us on!
For all of these performances, students must wear their formal concert attire. Please check specific information sent home by each director for call times and warm-up times.
Pre UIL – Thursday, February 23, Richardson High School
Concert Orchestra, Ms. Johnson – 6:30 p.m.
Philharmonic, Mr. Davenport – 7:30 p.m.
Symphony, Mr. Needham – 8:30 p.m.
Allen Festival - February 25
Symphony, Mr. Needham – 11:00 a.m.
UIL – Richardson High School, March 1-2
March 1 – Concert Orchestra, 9:30 a.m.
March 2 – Philharmonic – 1:15 p.m.
March 2 – Symphony – 4:15 p.m.

Uniform Check-out
We have all new uniforms this year and it is going to require a little more effort than usual to get them out to everyone. Every member of the BHS Orchestra program must get fitted next week for a uniform. In addition, all tux pants and dresses must be altered (hemmed) before our concert, which is in a little over two weeks (October 4).
Fitting times: Tuesday and Thursday (September 20-22), 3:15-5:30 p.m. in the BHS Orchestra room.
All students need black dress shoes and boys need a white tux shirt and black socks. We will provide dresses, tux jackets, tux pants, cummerbunds and ties.
Dear Orchestra Parents and Students,
We are already off to a great start! We have a new Associate Director and record number of students in our program this year. Please help me welcome Ms. Ashley Johnson to our Orchestra family!!!
We have some very powerful web tools we are using this year and I want to make sure you are aware of them.
Website – www.berknerorchestra.org
This is where you will find all the pertinent information for our program. The site has a new design and is up to date. Please take a moment to look at the site and bookmark it for future reference. The site is updated often with current information. You may use the site to access our other two web tools as well.
Charms – This is the database system used in the RISD Fine Arts programs. Please click on the Charms tab on the website and follow the directions to access your students account. We use Charms to organize our entire program. You may use Charms to update student info, access forms, and manage Orchestra financial information, including paying fees online.
Facebook – You may find our FB page by searching for Berkner Orchestra on FB or by simply clicking on the FB icon on the website. Since it is a group, you will need to ask to be added to the page. I would really like to encourage parents to join the page this year.
Communications will be done through the website, fb, and email this year. We will not send much information home with the students, so make sure you are using our web tools for the most current information.
We are excited about the great things happening in our program. It is a great joy to work with such fine students every day. Please let us know how we can help!
