Apollo & Liberty
Beginner Orchestra
Your music journey continues here…
Step 1: Meet the String Family
-
Violin and Viola
These instruments are played on the shoulder and are held in place by head weight. They produce medium high to high sound directly by the players ear. Violins come in 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 sizes. Violas come in 13in + sizes to fit each musicians’ individual arm length.
-
Cello
This instrument is required to be played sitting down. It produces a wide range of sound from medium high to low. Many say it mimics the range of the human voice. The instrument is held between the knees and comes in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and 4/4 sizes to fit any size musician.
-
Bass
This instrument is played seated on a stool and produces low to very low sounds! The sizes range from 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, to 3/4 sizes based on the reach of the musicians’ arm. Although they look large, they are much lighter than they appear.
Step 2: Listen
