TMEA - Director Professional Development
All BHS Area directors will attend the annual Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, TX. This event helps directors build their skills, find new vendors, and discover new techniques to bring back to the classroom to directly impact students growth.
Student-lead small ensembles and sectionals will have a UIL building agenda during their class time.

TBD after Fall Region Meeting - Berkner HS is a potential host for the 2023 All-Region Clinic and Concert.
Students audition in October to participate in either Philharmonic Orchestra (7th-10th Grade) or Honors Orchestra (9th-12th Grade, All-State Track).
Students may also volunteer to help run the event for service hours!

Hello LVB Orchestra,
We are hosting a Turkey Bash for our social! We’ll have board games, video games, bouncy obstacle courses, karaoke, and a potluck. We need your help bringing in a few items, including game consoles, and food.
1) Fill out the sign-up Genius if you plan to bring any snacks, drinks, or prepared dishes of your own! These dishes can be anything, even non-traditional Thanksgiving sides. Note that if you do plan on bringing your own cooked dish, you may receive 2 service hours per dish. We ask that if it is a hot dish, that you bring it in an insulated container or bring it up after school. We will not have an efficient way to reheat items so please plan accordingly. The BAOC is providing plates, silverware, ham, and turkey, so we appreciate any drinks, savory snacks, desserts, store-bought items, or homemade food that you’d like to contribute!

All-Region Auditions
Irving HS will host the 2023 TMEA All-Region Auditions for Region 20. Students and directors from all over Richardson, Dallas and Irving ISD will be in attendance.
LVBO Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony students will prepare the region audition music packet in class with their director, private lesson teacher, and guest clinicians. Directors will help students select the appropriate level of material as there are multiple region orchestras. Individual audition times will be posted a week before auditions.

Join us for this come and go event to get your student set up for success. In a hurry? Complete forms digitally linked below or emailed via Adobe ESign and make payments through Presto-Assistant.com BEFORE registration. Please be patient as we wait for all forms to be made available through the Fine Arts Office and for your Presto Fees to be updated - expect access to Adobe/Presto by Friday, Aug.4th.
Students need to attend in person to be fitted for their uniform, sign paperwork, return/check out their school instrument (if applicable), and enjoy social time with peers! Snow Cones w/officers after you walk through Registration!
Parents need to attend in person to sign paperwork (which can be completed at home beforehand), pay program fees (and optional trip fees), order Spirit Wear, sign up to volunteer in a small, medium, or large capacity with our booster club.

All Berkner Students will participate in this event that boosts individual musicianship skills that are not possible in a typical orchestra ensemble setting. As a soloist or part of an ensemble. Their entry fee is covered in their program fees, but accompanist for solos typically cost $50 (2 rehearsals during their class time, and the performance date). Honors Orchestra students are required to prepare a solo. Private Lesson teachers and/or directors can help find a level appropriate solo for students upon request.
Extra morning times have been requested to accommodate Seniors attending Prom that evening. This conflict has occurred before and has worked efficiently. Please plan prep-appointments accordingly.
Disney & Universal Spring Trip (Optional)
This optional out-state trip comes around only once every four years!

7th-12th Grade Orchestra students across RISD will enjoy a concert and Q&A experience from the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and guest artist Nicholas Canellakis (cello) who will perform the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor, Op. 33 with the orchestra.
