Hello LVB Orchestra,
We are hosting a Turkey Bash for our social! We’ll have board games, video games, bouncy obstacle courses, karaoke, and a potluck. We need your help bringing in a few items, including game consoles, and food.
1) Fill out the sign-up Genius if you plan to bring any snacks, drinks, or prepared dishes of your own! These dishes can be anything, even non-traditional Thanksgiving sides. Note that if you do plan on bringing your own cooked dish, you may receive 2 service hours per dish. We ask that if it is a hot dish, that you bring it in an insulated container or bring it up after school. We will not have an efficient way to reheat items so please plan accordingly. The BAOC is providing plates, silverware, ham, and turkey, so we appreciate any drinks, savory snacks, desserts, store-bought items, or homemade food that you’d like to contribute!

All-Region Clinic & Concert
Rockwall will host the TMEA All-Region Clinic and Concert for Region 20. Students and directors from all over Garland, Rockwall, and Mesquite will attend. The Fine Arts Department is working on bus transportation for this event for LVBO students who have been selected via October Auditions.
String Fling
6th Grade Beginner Orchestra Side-by-Side Concert - They will showcase their advanced skills entering their second semester of playing alongside 7-12 Grade students. 6th Grade Parents will also attend an informational meeting before the concert/during their students rehearsal time.
Symphony and Mariachi Orgullo Students will perform at this event.
Any Berkner Orchestra students may volunteer at this event for service hours.
UIL Send-Off Concert
Apollo and Liberty Junior High and BHS Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony musicians will participate.
TMEA - Director Professional Development
All BHS Area directors will attend the annual Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio, TX. This event helps directors build their skills, find new vendors, and discover new techniques to bring back to the classroom to directly impact students growth.
Student-lead small ensembles and sectionals will have a UIL building agenda during their class time.
UIL Concert
Location and specific concert times TBD until finalized by the Region Chair and Contest Host. Please join us for our official assessment concert. We need your support!
Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony musicians will participate.
BHS Fine Arts Corpus Christi Trip
Berkner Fine Art Department Trip
April 11-14th 2025
Port Royal Ocean Resort, Port Aransas Texas
Students will take charter buses down to the Corpus Christi area to perform a concert for the community, stay three nights on the coast for beach/pool time, visit local attractions for games and dinner, grocery/souvenir shop and stay in condos with six of their Fine Arts friends. Parents, please review the following agreement if your student is interested in joining us! To secure your trip spot:
1) all orchestra/instrument fees must be paid
2) the trip agreement signed by a parent (See parent only email for an optional Adobe E Sign document.)
3) $100 deposit submitted by October 24th.
4) program paperwork (LVBO Required Forms and Medical/Travel Form) are signed online
This is a completely optional event. I recommend each student attend at least once during their high school career. This in-state trip is an annual event (location may change), with the exception of our out-of-state trip (i.e. Universal Studios, New York, etc.) which will happen every four years (next: 26-27 school year) due to their higher expense.

All-Region Auditions
Poteet HS will host the 2023 TMEA All-Region Auditions for Region 20. Students and directors from all over Garland, Rockwall, and Mesquite will attend. The Fine Arts Department is working on bus transportation for this event.
LVBO Symphony students will prepare the region audition music packet in class with their director, private lesson teacher, and guest clinicians. Directors will help students in Concert and Philharmonic Orchestras with material to grow individual musicianship to the HS Region Level. Individual audition times will be posted a week before auditions.

Calling Orchestra Seniors - Mark Your Calendars
NEW DATE! Thursday, September 26th 5-6pm @BHS
This will be our first annual photoshoot - group and headshots - of our Orchestra Seniors for a publicity program poster. After school you will dress out in your Orchestra Concert Uniforms and uncase your instruments (no bows). On-Campus Photo location TBD. Feel free to send us your backdrop ideas. Thank you to Art Instructor - Katie Outlaw - for helping us make this a reality!

Students need to attend in person to be fitted for their uniform (freshman/new student only), sign paperwork, return/check out their school instrument (if applicable), and enjoy social time with peers!
Parent participation can be completed all digitally (e-sign forms and program fee payment - cash/check also accepted). All forms will be completed online - with the exception of RISD instrument rental. In person, parents can purchase Spirit Wear and sign up to volunteer in a small, medium, or large capacity with our booster club.

Irving HS will host the 2023 TMEA All-Region Auditions for Region 20. Students and directors from all over Richardson, Dallas and Irving ISD will be in attendance.
LVBO Concert, Philharmonic, and Symphony students will prepare the region audition music packet in class with their director, private lesson teacher, and guest clinicians. Directors will help students select the appropriate level of material as there are multiple region orchestras. Individual audition times will be posted a week before auditions.
